Win condition: Apply enough Poison early that the enemy bleeds out over the next several turns. Accelerant and Envenom turn a modest stack into a per-turn avalanche; you survive the wait with Block and Weak.

Game plan

How to play

Step-by-step through the run, from opening hands to the win.

Honest take

Pros & cons

Strengths

  • Ignores enemy Block and Artifact entirely once stacks are applying.
  • Excellent against Elites and bosses where the fight lasts long enough to scale.
  • Cheap engine (mostly 1-cost) frees energy for defense.
  • Multi-enemy rooms melt to Noxious Fumes and Corrosive Wave.

Weaknesses

  • Slow to start — weak in short fights where the timer never matures.
  • Enemies that gain Artifact can eat a key debuff application at the wrong moment.
  • Needs at least one multiplier (Accelerant/Envenom/relic) to beat boss HP pools.

Opening

Mulligan & priorities

What to keep, what to ditch in your opening hands.

  • Keep Noxious Fumes always — every turn it is down is permanent lost damage.
  • Keep Deadly Poison or Bouncing Flask to put pressure on while the Power scales.
  • Keep a cheap Block card so you don't take a chunk before the timer matters.
  • Toss Bubble Bubble on the opening hand — it is dead until a stack exists.
  • Toss Accelerant if there's no Poison on the board yet; it wants a target first.

Map strategy

Pathing

How to route the map to assemble the build and stay healthy.

Elites over hunting damage

Poison ignores enemy Block and scales with fight length, so it crushes high-HP Elites and bosses. Prioritize Elite paths once Noxious Fumes plus one multiplier are online — your ceiling is highest exactly where other decks struggle.

Grab the Poison relics

Snecko Skull (+1 per application) and Twisted Funnel (4 Poison to all at combat start) are build-defining. Route through ? rooms and shops looking for them; either one meaningfully shortens every fight.

Avoid these

Common mistakes

  • Playing Bubble Bubble or Accelerant before any Poison is on the enemy — both need an existing stack to do anything.
  • Over-drafting Attacks. Poison is your damage; a bloated attack count dilutes draws to your engine cards.
  • Forgetting Poison ticks at end of the enemy's turn, so racing for lethal Attack damage on the same turn the enemy would die to Poison just wastes cards.
  • Skipping Block because 'the fight is already won' — a single big hit can end you while you wait out the timer.
  • Letting Outbreak sit in hand; play it as a Power so its counter starts ticking with every later application.

Quick answers

FAQ

Common questions about the Venom Cascade Silent build.

Is Venom Cascade good in Slay the Spire 2?

Yes — it is one of the Silent's strongest archetypes because Poison ignores enemy Block and Artifact and scales with fight length, making it a top pick into Elites and bosses. Noxious Fumes re-applies Poison to all enemies for free every turn, and once Accelerant or Envenom multiplies that, even huge boss HP bars bleed out. As an Early Access build the exact Poison numbers may still be tuned, but the core engine is reliably powerful.

What are the best cards for Poison Silent?

Noxious Fumes is the non-negotiable backbone since it re-applies Poison to all enemies every turn. Pair it with Accelerant (triggers each Poison stack an extra time, doubling tick damage), Envenom (your Attacks apply Poison on unblocked hits), and Outbreak (deals damage to all enemies every 3 Poison applications). Bouncing Flask and Deadly Poison front-load the stack so the timer matures faster.

What relics does Venom Cascade want?

Snecko Skull is the dream relic — +1 Poison per application is enormous when Noxious Fumes and Bouncing Flask apply many times per turn. Twisted Funnel is also core, handing you 4 Poison to all enemies at combat start for an instant timer and Outbreak counter. Frozen Egg is a nice situational pickup since it auto-upgrades a Power like Noxious Fumes or Accelerant.

Is Poison Silent beginner-friendly or better at high Ascension?

It is rated Intermediate: the engine is cheap and easy to assemble, but it starts slow and you must remember that Poison ticks at the end of the enemy's turn, so racing for Attack lethal on the same turn wastes cards. It holds up well at high Ascension precisely because it ignores Block and scales into long Elite and boss fights, as long as you keep enough Block (Backflip, Dodge and Roll) to survive the wait.
