Win condition: Generate a steady stream of Soul tokens (each draws 2 and Exhausts) and attach payoffs so every Soul played also Summons (Devour Life), drains enemy HP (Haunt), or fuels a scaling Soul Storm — converting card draw into the whole game plan.

Synergy

Relic priorities

What to grab from shops, bosses and chests to power the engine.

  • Funerary Mask

Adds 3 Souls to your draw pile every combat — free engine fuel before you draw a generator.

  • Joss Paper

Souls Exhaust constantly; every 5 Exhausts draws a card, deepening the chain.

  • Unceasing Top

Draw when your Hand empties — turns a full Soul cascade into even more cards.

  • Burning Sticks
    Burning SticksSituational

First Skill Exhausted each combat returns a copy; can duplicate a key Soul Skill.

  • Forgotten Soul
    Forgotten SoulSituational

Each Exhaust pings a random enemy — every Soul becomes 1 extra chip damage.

  • Bag of Preparation

Two extra opening cards help you find a payoff Power sooner.

Honest take

Pros & cons

Strengths

  • Insane card flow once assembled; you see most of your deck every fight.
  • Souls feed three different payoffs (draw, Summon, HP drain) from one token.
  • Soul Storm gives a real scaling finisher that grows the whole combat.

Weaknesses

  • Combo-reliant: bricks hard if you can't find Devour Life or Haunt.
  • Higher skill floor — sequencing generators, payoffs, and Souls matters a lot.
  • Slower to threaten lethal than Doom or Osty in short fights.

Opening

Mulligan & priorities

What to keep, what to ditch in your opening hands.

  • Keep Devour Life or Haunt — the payoffs are what make Souls more than card draw.
  • Keep a Soul generator (Reave, Grave Warden, Capture Spirit) to start seeding the pile.
  • Hold Soul Storm for later; it's weak before the Exhaust pile fills.
  • Keep Dirge if you have spare Energy — X-cost mass Soul + Summon generation is the best seed.
  • Toss cards that clog draws without advancing the engine.

Map strategy

Pathing

How to route the map to assemble the build and stay healthy.

Find your payoff Powers fast

This build is dead without Devour Life or Haunt online. Prioritize card rewards and shops that offer them, and don't commit to the archetype until you've seen at least one payoff.

Funerary Mask is a free starter

Funerary Mask seeds 3 Souls into your draw pile every combat — instant fuel before you've even drawn a generator. Snap it up.

Avoid these

Common mistakes

  • Chaining Souls before any payoff Power is down, so you just cycle without pressure.
  • Firing Soul Storm early when only a couple of Souls are in the Exhaust pile.
  • Over-generating Souls so a single turn draws your whole deck and burns payoffs you can't use.
  • Treating Souls as pure draw and ignoring Devour Life's free board of minions.
  • Forgetting Glimpse Beyond and Legion of Bone also feed ALL players in co-op — solo, value the self-Soul lines higher.

Quick answers

FAQ

Common questions about the Soul Harvest Necrobinder build.

What does a Soul token actually do?

Each Soul is a free 0-cost card that draws 2 and then Exhausts. On its own it just replaces itself and digs deeper, but with payoffs attached it becomes the whole game plan — every Soul played triggers Devour Life and Haunt and feeds the Exhaust pile for Soul Storm.

Which payoff Power do I need to make this work?

Devour Life or Haunt, ideally both. Devour Life Summons 1 every time you play a Soul, and Haunt makes a random enemy lose 6-8 HP per Soul. Without at least one of them down, chaining Souls is just card cycling with no pressure, so prioritize finding them before committing to the archetype.

When do I fire Soul Storm?

Late. Soul Storm deals 9 plus 2-3 per Soul in your Exhaust pile, and since every Soul you play this combat ends up in Exhaust, the hit grows the longer the engine runs. Hold it until the Exhaust pile is deep rather than firing it on an empty pile early.

Can I over-draw and hurt myself?

Yes. Because Souls cascade draws, a single turn can rip through most of your deck and dump real attacks or payoffs you can no longer replay that turn. Sequence your generators and payoff Powers first, then chain Souls, so the cascade lands after the engine is set up.
